Purple Hand, The:

A symbol of Gay Liberation; it originated in 1969 when activists picketing San Francisco's newspaper THE EXAMINER for anti-gay editorials, were drenched from above with printers ink; one demondstrator imprinted the side of the building with his ink-stained hand.
