From the 19 th century metaphor: The fruitful vine which bears flowers every four weeks and fruit every nine months . Defined by Captain Francis Grose defined fruitful vine in his Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue (1811) as: ' A woman's private-parts , i.e. that has flowers every month, and bears fruit in nine months .'
