2. Or: gamb , a leg , especially a woman's leg . More often in the plural: gams / gambs. The expression was in existence in the early 1800s. Captain Francis Grose defines gambs in his Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue (1811) as: ' Thin, ill-shaped legs: a corruption of the French word jambes . Farcy gambs; sore or swelled legs .'
