F**K:

Or: F*** | F*CK | F--- | F..K | F--K | FXCK, in caps or lower case, are publisher's spellings for the word FUCK. The asterisks and other characters mark the omission of a letter or letters in taboo words, cusses, curses & slurs, and four-letter-words. Fuck is sometimes rendered as F%#K; SHIT is disguised as $#1T. CUNT is written C**T in Francis Grose's Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue (1811) and defined therein as: 'a nasty name for a nasty thing'.
QUOTE: Lawrence Paros, The Erotic Tongue (1984) on the word FUCK: 'Freed at last by the U.S. Supreme Court decision on Lady Chatterley's Lover in 1951. (...) We had rediscovered the f**k with a vengeance. The Big F's formal coming-out includes: The Penguin Dictionary, 1965; The American Heritage Dictionary, 1969; and at last the OED in its 1972 supplement.'
