1. A lecherous man , based on : a) the goat's supposed sexual prowess; b) the goat as a symbol for the devil and sinning. Usage dates back to the 16 ^th century. Can also be an insult addressed to a man : ' You (dirty) old-goat! ' See philanderer for synonyms.
