Obsolete in the sense defined by Captain Francis Grose in Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue (1811) as: ' Desirous of copulation . A proud bitch ; a bitch at heat , or desirous of a dog .' The obsolete litetary figure of speech, 'proud at both ends ', said of men and women, meant proud in the big-head (arrogant) and the small head (sexually excited).
