violet wand:

Electrical device used in sadomasochism to discharge static electricity onto a submissive's body. The wand uses a high-frequency circuit similar to a Tesla coil to build up a static charge in a gas-filled glass tube which jumps the gap to the skin of the bottom . It discharges thousands of volts but milliamperes which makes it relatively safe to use anywhere on the body except the eyes . The rate of sparks and the intensity of the discharge vary with the size of the end attachment : the larger the surface area of the attachment , the weaker the charge .
