bimbo:
1. When first coined, during the Jazz Age, it referred to a tramp or prostitute , then a promiscuous flapper , and finally a dumb woman .

2. The term gained popularity through the detective novels of the 1930s which portrayed her as a beautiful but dumb blonde who is taken out for a night on-the-town in exchange for sexual favors.

3. From 1940s onward, a sexy but silly woman , especially one with loose morals. See playgirl for synonyms.
Etymology: Possibly derived from the Italian bambino , meaning baby or from the Italian bombo , a child's word for drink.
